Use Policy for
Internet Workstations
Identification
and Self-Check Internet Station
-
You must
have a Clark County Public Library card, valid state ID or passport in
order to use an Internet workstation.
-
Each user
must sign in with her or her own library card.
Minors may not sign in with a parent or guardian’s card unless the
parent or guardian is with the minor and will monitor the minor’s
complete session at the workstation. Anyone found to be using another
individual’s card will have all access to computing workstation
blocked for 1 year; this misuse of another individual’s card is
considered identity theft and may be reported to law enforcement.
-
Adult
users with state ID, driver’s license, or passport must request a
guest ID pass at the circulation desk.
-
Minor
users under the age of 16 must present a valid library card.
-
Minor
users aged 16 and 17 may access a computer workstation with a valid
driver’s permit, license, state ID card, or other state or federal
ID.
Blocked Cards:
Any user
with a blocked card or more than $5 in fines will not be able to use a
workstation.
Engaging in
the following PROHIBITED activities will result in loss of Internet
privileges for 1 year or longer.
-
Breaking local, state, federal, or international law.
-
Accessing graphic descriptions or images of a criminal, violent, or
sexual nature.
-
Attempting to change or damage library equipment or software.
Workstation Partners:
The user
checking out a workstation takes responsibility for all workstation
partners.

Minor
Access
Internet
access is not filtered. Adults and minors have equal access to
workstations. Parents and legal guardians may request a block on
unsupervised internet use for any minor in their care at any time, and
may remove such blocks at will. Library staff cannot serve in place of
the parent or guardian: parents are encouraged to supervise workstation
sessions of any minor that may not fully understand this policy, or whom
the parent feels may disregard the policy. |
